Welcome to Pontoon Documentation

Pontoon is Mozilla's translation management system (TMS) β€” a web-based platform that enables the Mozilla localization community to translate, review, and manage strings for Mozilla's products and websites.

Pontoon specializes in community-driven open source localization, pulling strings directly from version control repositories (Git and Mercurial) and writing translations back automatically. It supports a wide range of localization file formats including Fluent, Gettext PO, XLIFF, .properties, DTD, and more.

Scope of this documentation

While most of this documentation applies to any Pontoon deployment, the Mozilla instance is used as the primary example. Some sections β€” particularly in the Admin Guide β€” are specific to Mozilla's deployment.
